Room of Echoes II

I’m happy to share a new and an updated version of the two works that now make up my Room of Echoes series of electroacoustic compositions, combining recordings and electronics. Room of Echoes II continues the creative explorations of the first work in the series, testing the possibilities of sounds and resonances recorded in and around the abbey in La Chaise-Dieu in Auvergne, France. Like the first work, it was composed for an octophonic or eight-channel sound system, which makes for an immersive listening experience in concert. Both were performed at the Paysages Composés festival in Grenoble on 4 October 2025. I’ve uploaded stereo versions of both pieces as they were conceived for the concert: an updated mix and master of Room of Echoes I and the first stereo version of Room of Echoes II. Both versions are adapted for listening on speakers or headphones.

Room of Echoes II

A new multichannel electroacoustic composition titled Room of Echoes II is in the works for a premier this early autumn. I’ve been able to take the spatial explorations of the first Room of Echoes in this new direction thanks to the artistic residency program of APNÉES, a Grenoble-based group dedicated to sound research and experimentation. The residency provided the opportunity to travel to Grenoble in June and develop the composition over an intense week of work in the spatialized sound studio of research centre ACROE. Room of Echoes II will be part of a series of concerts closing at the PAYSAGES COMPOSÉS 2025 festival organized by APNÉES in October.

Monstrueux

I’m happy to share a short film for which I composed the music two years ago, and which has recently been made public. MONSTRUEUX is an animated fantasy-adventure film for all ages, produced by a team at the École George Méliès animation school in Orly, France. The filmmakers sought a Hollywoodian orchestral score to accompany the action, support the contrasts between characters and provide touches of magic and humour. Completed in 2023, the film spent two years screening in festivals and is now available for public sharing.

Two improvisation-compositions

In April, I took part in a concert of improvised music and sound performances as part of a partnership between the Conservatory of Aubervilliers and new music ensemble soundinitiative. Two of the improvisation-compositions performed at the concert include PIEZA PARA SOPLADORES Y LANCINANTE RUIDO #2 by Violeta Motta and STASE by Chaimae Arhoune and Erika Hernandez.

December 2024

I have uploaded a new electroacoustic work, Room of Echoes. This composition explores how instrumental sounds and environmental recordings dialogue with one another, continuing an approach that guided my mixed instrumental and electronic composition Rêve d’Ontario. I have uploaded a reworked audio master of this work as well, along with a field recording of a thunderstorm that features in its middle section.
